Chainleft

Chainleft is a blockchain-native artist dedicated to creating, collecting, and writing about the type of art that's only possible with blockchains. With a data science background, Chainleft aims to craft works that leverage blockchain and its always-on computer to influence aesthetics while exploring optimization, permanence, programmability, social dynamics, and dynamism themes.

Our Curation System

The Curation Committee, elected by the Fingerprints community, oversees all acquisitions.
Fingerprints holds periodic elections to refresh the committee. The term for each iteration of the committee is typically 6 months. Non-members are allowed to apply through liaison of an existing member.

We believe art that is foundational, innovative, and made possible by this new medium is more likely to retain value in the long run due to its uniqueness and substance.

These attributes render them inimitable and irreplaceable, qualities present in all art that has stood the test of time. When people look back to the genesis of the NFT art market, specific collections will stand out as groundbreaking for making innovative use of the blockchain for artistic expression. These are the works we intend to collect.

Artworks are assessed by the Committee according to a framework composed of four categories.
The work must exhibit at least one of these qualifications in either form or concept:

CriteriaDescription
On-chain storageThe artwork can be fully recreated from information stored entirely on the blockchain
DynamismThe artwork is responsive to on-chain activity, such as block information, token prices, or users’ proactive programming
CoordinationThe artwork incentivizes coordinated behavior by human or non-human agents
Value and ownershipThe artwork critically examines financial value, markets, and/or ownership, or deploys its own economic mechanisms
Smart Contract ConceptsThe artwork uses smart contract mechanics as it primary medium to express and explore unique concepts
